INDUSTRY GROWTH
Where the industry is growing.
The scale of recent investments in the New York state ecosystem signals its value position as a long-term hub for the industry. WIth over $124 billion in new industry investment announced since 2022 and a quarter of all U.S.-made chips projected to be manufactured in and around upstate New York by 2030, supply chain companies have been flocking to the Empire State. The nation’s most ambitious incentives and thousands of acres of investment-ready land also continue to contribute to this growth, giving companies all the more reason to continue to build and expand here.
SKILLED WORKFORCE
Stand up, staff up.
New York is making nation-leading investments in workforce development to meet the coming demand. The state is investing more than $750 million in training programs, with a focus on advanced manufacturing. With more than 150 active semiconductor-related workforce training programs—including for construction, technicians, and engineering—the talent pipeline here is ready to scale.
LONG-TERM STABILITY
Reliably stable.
New York has a long tradition of innovation in computing and advanced manufacturing stretching past the opening of IBM’s Watson Laboratory at Columbia University in 1945. The Empire State has long invested in semiconductor growth through sustained collaboration among industry, academia, and government. Today, more than 156 semiconductor and supply chain companies operate across the state, representing every stage of the semiconductor value chain. They are benefitting from an electrical grid that is on track to be 100% carbon-free by 2040, abundant freshwater resources, extensive transportation infrastructure, and continued public investment in industrial capacity.
